Heartbroken pals pay tribute to motorcyclist killed in horror crash with double decker bus
HEARTBROKEN pals have paid tribute to a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash with a double decker bus.
Luke Burton, who was in his 20s, sadly died at the scene after the head-on smash outside a busy North Yorkshire holiday park yesterday evening.
The coach was engulfed in flames from end to end after the collision next to a child's playground near the entrance of the Blue Dolphin holiday park.
Devastated friends have paid tribute to the "cheeky" lad from Filey.
One pal wrote: "Today Filey has lost one of its own. A lad with all his life ahead of him. He made an impression everywhere he went.
They added: "Cause some mischief up there ya cheeky b*****d. Rip Luke."
Another friend wrote: "Honestly can't believe this, Luke was the life and soul of the party all the time.
"Always knew how to make everyone laugh.
"Life is far too short, cherish everyone around you becuase you never know what is around the corner. Rest in peace LB."
Police raced to the scene at 5.05pm on Thursday after a black Suzuki motorbike and a double decker bus collided.
Children fled the play area in terror leaving swings and slides deserted by the Blue Dolphin holiday park in Filey.
Shocking footage shows the double-decker on fire, and flames also engulfed the boundary fences to the park.
Emergency service sirens were also heard blaring as they rushed to tackle the blaze.
A pall of choking smoke hung over the area as the Yorkshire air ambulance helicopter came into land.
The scene was cordoned off with motorists advised to avoid the area.
The fire extinguished at 8.45pm and emergency services were able to safely evacuate the area.
North Yorkshire Police said: "Very sadly the motorcyclist, a man in his twenties from Filey, died at the scene.
"His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers."
They added: “Police are appealing to anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the collision or the collision itself, who did not speak to an officer at the scene, to contact them.
