PARKING MAD

Mum’s fury after she finds bollard erected in her ‘parking space’ while she’s out at work

A MUM was left furious after returning home from work to find her housing provider had erected a bollard in the space where she parks her car.

Jasmine Frank said she felt "victimised and singled out" after Coastline Housing scrapped the space outside her home after telling her she could use it.

The mum was shocked to see the bollard placed in the spot just outside her property in Redruth, Cornwall after receiving no warning from her housing provider.

Although it was not a designated space, Jasmine said that Coastline had assured her they had no issue with her using it.

She told : "The housing association came out previously and verbally agreed I haven’t done anything wrong by parking there.

"The space wasn’t designated to me but nine times out of ten I was able to park there."

Jasmine suspects that the bollard may have been placed there due to complaints from her neighbours, but uses the spot as one of her children is being evaluated for additional needs and parks there "for her safety".

She slammed Coastline for "giving in to the person who was complaining", and said the decision would make it even more difficult to park in the area.

The mum added: "I feel victimised and singled out by the decision to have that there and now taken a parking space in an already limited parking area."

Responding to Jasmine, a spokesman for Coastline said: ";The piece of land in question is not an official parking space, but a walkway to access gates to two properties.

"Legally, we have to maintain the right of access, so we have installed a bollard to ensure this small piece of land can still be used as a walkway and that no vehicles can block access."

They added: "We are contacting Jasmine Frank to ensure that any confusion over this matter is cleared up";.
