Naya Rivera was an American actress, singer, and model.
She was best known for starring in the hit musical series Glee from 2009 to 2015.
The actress had roles in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Family Matters, The Jersey, Live Shot, Baywatch, Smart Guy, House Blend, Even Stevens and The Master of Disguise.
Rivera was also signed to Columbia Records but never had a debut album released.
She married Ryan Dorsey in 2014 but they divorced four years later.
What happened to Naya and her son in Lake Piru?
Naya Rivera was found dead on Monday, July 13, at Lake Piru in California concluding a five-day search.
The 33-year-old actress and her son, Josey swam in Lake Piru together before she drowned and summoned the strength to save him, officials said.
Divers searched the lake until nightfall on Wednesday, July 8, but were unable to find the actress.
Helicopters also joined in the search.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department began looking for a presumed drowning victim as the search changed from a rescue to a recovery mission.
The search began after responding to a report of a boy left alone on a boat at around 4.48 pm, they said in a press release.
A life jacket was reportedly still in the boat and Josey was asleep when the vessel was first found.
There was no indication of foul play nor any lead that Rivera died by suicide, officials said at the time.
They later tweeted: "The missing person at Lake Puru has been identified as Naya Rivera, 33, of Los Angeles.
"SAR operation will continue at first light.";
FOX11 in LA said that Rivera's car was found parked close to the boat rental company - with her handbag still inside.
Tributes poured in from across the entertainment industry, including Mandy Moore, Viola Davis, and former Glee co-star Lea Michele amid the news of her passing.
Two days before she went missing, she posted a heartbreaking final picture of her and Josey with the words “just the two of us."
Who is Josey Hollis Dorsey?
Josey is Rivera's seven-year-old son with ex-husband Ryan Dorsey.
He was born on September 17, 2015.
confirmed that Rivera was not on the boat with Josey, with sources telling the publication that Josey told authorities that his mother had "jumped into the water but didn't come back up."
