A rain-soaked Super Saturday saw the reopening of theme parks, cinemas, campsites and hotels.

Torrential downpours failed to dampen spirits as families ventured out and Britain bounced back after a four-month lockdown.

Super Saturday, dubbed the UK’s Independence Day, saw coronavirus lockdown restrictions eased to kick-start the economy and boost morale.

Thrillseekers flocked to seafront amusement arcades and the Adventure Island theme park in Southend on Sea , despite the gloomy weather.

And queues formed early at Alton Towers after the theme park opened its doors for the first time in months.

People wearing masks and practicing social distancing were photographed on rides such as The Smiler.

Families braved the drizzle to enjoy the dodgems at Chessington World of Adventures and hit Legoland in Windsor.

Joe Wicks, featured in the new attraction at reopened Legoland in Windsor, is now worth nearly £6million.

The 33 year old transformed the nation’s couch potato habits during lockdown.

His daily workouts proved to be hugely popular with millions of fans, who raved about his easy-to-follow routines.

Joe's popularity soared as his videos and T-shirts helped raise £500,000 for the NHS during the coronavirus pandemic, and he is now set to be immortalised as a Madame Tussauds waxwork.
