TikTok star Addison Rae accused of ‘blackfishing’ by making her skin appear darker with makeup
TIKTOK star Addison Rae has been accused of “blackfishing” in videos by making her skin appear darker with makeup.
Social media users have called out the 19-year-old, whose full name is Addison Rae Easterling, after she posted a clip of herself getting her done, as her skin tone looks darker than her normal complexion.
"nobody’s talking abt addison rae switchin up ethnicities on us," someone else .
“people want black hairstyles, a darker complexion, but not the discrimination [people of color] go through everyday. y'all see the issue right ?”
The 19-year-old, who has more than 48million followers on TikTok and 2.4million followers on Twitter, hasn’t appeared to respond to the accusations on social media, and did not immediately return The Sun's request for comment.
Addison has also been accused of calling the a “cult” and for trying to get a fellow TikTok star, Kio Cyr, to “say the N-word” on video.
During an Instagram Live, Addison and Kio were chatting when Addison covers her mouth and seems to whisper to Kio, "Say the N-word."
"No! I'm not saying that," Kio replies, to which Addison clarifies her request, and responds: "I'm kidding!"
