Boy racer films himself speeding with one hand on wheel and live streams it on web

Mohammed Hilowle, 24, narrowly misses other drivers in footage broadcast on controversial app Periscope

A BOY racer filmed himself doing 108mph with one hand on the wheel while streaming the footage live on the internet.

Shocked viewers saw Mohammed Hilowle, 24, thunder past other drivers in residential streets at night in a £30,000 high-performance Volkswagen Golf R.

He ran a red light and narrowly missed another motor at a junction, yelling abuse at the driver. At one point, he slowed to 8mph before speeding to more than 100mph in just 30 seconds.

Hilowle, who kept turning his phone’s camera on himself, even commented on a female viewer’s outfit in the seven-minute clip.

At the end, the cocky student asked: “Did everyone enjoy their little tutorial on how to drive like a madman and nearly die?”

The footage was sent to The Sun by a user of video streaming app Periscope, who said: “I was just shocked. I couldn’t believe how fast he was going, especially with one hand in the dark. It was so stupid.

“He just seemed to think it was one big game.”
Mike Bristow, of road safety charity Brake, said: “It’s a miracle no one was hurt or killed.
“Taking this a step further and live broadcasting his actions with a mobile phone sets a very bad example to others.”

Hilowle, of Ilford, East London, later told The Sun: “It was pretty dangerous and of course I shouldn’t have been doing it.

“I am really, really sorry but I still think I am a safe driver.”

Police said they were investigating a complaint of alleged dangerous driving.
