HIV fears as nurse sits on SEVEN blood-covered syringes that had been deliberately left upright on a train seat
21-year-old confesses that getting the virus is her 'greatest fear' but she won't get the results for a month
A TRAINEE nurse fears that she has been infected with HIV after she sat on seven bloody needles left on a train seat on purpose.
21-year-old Carmen E got on a train into Vienna, Austria when she sat on the upright syringes.
The needles were left upright on purpose on the seat and backrest on the OBB train.
When she got off at Praterstern station, she told station workers about what had happened.
She was rushed to hospital after the incident, where she had tests to check for HIV and Hepatitis.
But she won’t find out the results of the test for another month.
Carmen E said that getting AIDS was her “greatest fear”.
The trainee nurse said: “At first I had not thought about it at all and then I felt behind and got a big shock.
“I immediately panicked and trembled all over. I just cried.”
“Doctors have said that it will take up to one month before the results are known.
“Until then, I am in constant uncertainty. Hopefully I was not infected with AIDS. This is my greatest fear.”
This is the second time in two months that authorities have found syringes stuck in train seats.
Police are investigating a possible serial offender.
Authorities are analysing CCTV footage and passengers are being warned to check train seats before they sit on them.
