Kickboxer at the centre of claims he is in a gay relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo ‘arrested’
Badr Hadi, 31, is said to have been detained upon touching down in Casablanca airport following a trip to Brussels
A KICKBOXER said to be in a gay relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo has been arrested over an alleged assault at a luxury hotel in Morocco.
Amsterdam-born Badr Hadi, 31, who now lives in Morocco, is said to have been detained upon touching down in Casablanca airport following a trip to Brussels.
The six foot five inch kickboxer, who became the first ever K-1 heavyweight champion in 2007, stands accused of assaulting a waiter at a luxury hotel over a drinks order, then breaking the nose of a man who tried to stop the attack.
Local reports said Hadi had been released after paying the equivalent of £356 bail.
The arrest is thought to be connected to an incident last month at a luxury hotel in Marrakech when a waiter tried to clarify whether or not the kickboxer wanted glass or a bottle of vodka following a drinks order.
Hadi allegedly assaulted the waiter before turning on an unnamed second man who tried to intervene to stop the attack.
Last year it was sensationally claimed that Hadi was in a gay relationship with Real Madrid star Ronaldo who, Spanish press say, regularly takes his £14 million private jet over to Morocco after training to spend time with the kickboxer.
And Daniel Riolo - a contributor on French television show ‘Touche pas a mon sport’ - also hinted that pair were more than just friends.
The studio audience was heard gasping when Riolo said: “Ronaldo takes three or four jets a week to see a friend in Morocco to cuddle.”
As well as rumours of a secret relationship with Ronaldo, Hari has been involved in a string of controversies outside the ring.
Last October disturbing footage appearing to show the 6ft 5in giant slapping a hotel receptionist at a hotel in Casablanca round the face, was posted on YouTube.
Hari, re-sentenced to a two-year prison term over a series of violent crimes including a 2012 assault in Amsterdam which he was reported at the time to be appealing, is also said to have caused problems at a restaurant in Casablanca last November.
One Moroccan paper said restaurant bosses threatened to call the police after he assaulted a waiter who passed him the bill before he requested it.
The incident, first reported in an Arabic-language newspaper called Assabah, is said to have happened in a chic restaurant in the oceanfront neighbourhood of Corniche.
Hari came under the international spotlight last year because of his close relationship with Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo, whose performances dipped after the end of his five-year relationship with Russian model Irina Shayk in January 2015, shared several holiday snaps in Morocco with Hari.
One of the photos showed him in the muscular fighter’s arms with the caption: “Just Married. Always there to pick you up bro.”
Reports at the time said Real Madrid bosses were concerned about the footballer’s performances being hampered by regular flights to Morocco to see his friend on a new Gulfstream 200 private jet.
Hari previously said of his violent temper: “I am able to explode at any moment. When my brakes are off, it’s just one big clump of explosion, chaos and noise and I become blind to it all.
“A storm, a hurricane, a disaster. There just is a certain aggression inside of me, of which I don’t know what to do with and neither where it comes from.”courted controversy over violent outbursts outside the ring.”
He is reportedly due in court today for a preliminary hearing over the alleged attack.
