Cheating wife who hired £5k hitman to slit her husband’s throat and make it look like an ISIS execution is jailed
NURTEN Taycur told contract killer to murder Uber driver Ercan Akan but was talking to undercover cop
A CHEATING wife who hired a 'hitman' to kill her husband and make it look like an ISIS terrorist attack has been jailed for six years today.
Nurten Taycur, 28, offered to pay a contract killer £5,000 to slash Ercan Akan’s throat and spray ISIS on the roof of his car.
She also agreed to help track her husband using the Find My iPhone app - unaware that she was actually talking to an undercover police officer.
Taycur, who confessed she had been having an affair with another man, was arrested after handing over a £1,000 deposit to the bogus hitman.
Judge Peter Rook QC told Taycur: “You actively sought the assistance of a hitman in order to arrange the contract killing of your husband.
“Unbeknown to you your arrangements were covertly recorded by an undercover officer.
“It may well be that you were encouraged by another to embark on this course but you willingly entered into these arrangements.
“I accept you were feeling unhappy... however nothing could justify the dreadful plan you wanted to carry out.
“It was clearly your idea that the killing should be made to look like it was ISIS inspired.
“Quite apart from the risk of spreading fear of terrorist attacks, it could only have had significant repercussions in the Kurdish community.”
After her arrest her Uber driver husband, Mr Akan told police: “I still don't understand why Nurten wanted me to be killed.
“If she wanted to separate from me she could have done it in the normal way.”
Taycur came to the UK as a child and was only 16 when she married her husband.
The couple lived together in Hackney and went on holiday to Turkey a few months before she hatched the murder plot.
On 13 November last year she met the undercover officer named 'John' near Victoria Park in Hackney.
Prosecutor Mark Gadsden told the court: “She indicated she had a budget of £5,000.”
Taycur told the officer: “In our culture you cannot have a boyfriend but I can say yeah well I cheated on my husband.”
She added: “I want him to die. I want him to get out of my life.”
She told him to stab her husband while he was in his uber but insisted the body be returned adding: “I want his body to be found so I can take him to Turkey so I can cry to see I'm very sad.”
She later gave ‘hitman John’ her husband’s passport photo and registration of his Toyota Prius.
Four days later she texted him “The order is ready” and 'I'm so excited.'
Following her arrest police recovered the remaining £4,000 at her home.
She later claimed her husband would not let her get a divorce because of his stricter cultural beliefs owing to his Kurdish heritage.
Her barrister John Femiola told the court that Taycur was 'vulnerable' and added: “This is a woman who considered, rightly or wrongly, that she was in a living prison.”
