TREATS FOR KILLERS

Jailed killers including Ian Huntley, Levi Bellfield and Peter Sutcliffe given quizzes and puzzles behind bars

KILLERS including Ian Huntley, Levi Bellfield and Peter Sutcliffe are having quizzes and puzzles posted under their cell doors to keep them busy during lockdown.

Prison guards have supplied Sudoku games and crosswords to notorious lags, who are confined to their cells.

Soham murderer Huntley, 46, Milly Dowler killer Bellfield, 52 and Yorkshire Ripper Sutcliffe, 74, are among those given the packages.

The fiends are all held at HMP Frankland where warders came up with the plan to occupy inmates.

The County Durham jail also holds terrorists and warlord ex-Liberian president Charles Taylor.

Guards call the deliveries “distraction packs” and “activity sets” - and have cut out crosswords from newspapers for cons to solve.

Schemes have also been set up at other UK prisons, where lags have been given quizzes and puzzles.

It has previously been revealed how cons at Frankland were having “goodie bags” full of chocolate bars including Mars Bars and Twixes delivered to their cells.

Their daily treats - delivered to them to aid social distancing - also included biscuits, wafers and sparkling water.

A Ministry of Justice source said: “It is due to the severe lockdown restrictions in our prisons and the need to keep inmates busy.”
