Mum stabbed to death with ‘samurai sword and meat cleaver’ in own home as son tried to save her
A WOMAN was hacked to death in what’s believed to be a samurai sword and meat cleaver attack inside her home.
The victim, named locally as Jean Eagers, 57, was stabbed multiple times in an attack at her west Dublin home at around 11.30am.
The suspect was later tasered by cops who stormed through the front window of the house in Willow Wood, Blanchardstown, after finding the front door barricaded.
Neighbours were first to raise the alarm before the Armed Support Unit responded.
When they arrived, they looked inside and saw the victim injured in the back of the house.
They also saw a man with the weapon and tried to engage with him but he was unresponsive while the front door was also barricaded.
They then stormed through the front window, using a stun grenade, before the suspect was tasered and he was restrained.

The man was arrested and taken into custody, but it’s understood he was later brought to hospital for treatment for an injury.

The local rep condemned the “shameful” attack and said future governments need to increase funding to tackle violence against women.
He said: “I think all types of violence against women is abhorrent and shameful. I think there should be a lot more resources and funding made available to help tackle this.
“And I think is imperative that the future government - whatever the makeup is - focuses a lot more on tackling issues of this nature.”
