Mum stabbed to death with ‘samurai sword and meat cleaver’ in own home as son tried to save her
A WOMAN was hacked to death in what’s believed to be a samurai sword and meat cleaver attack inside her home.
The victim, named locally as Jean Eagers, 57,
The suspect was later tasered by cops who stormed through the front window of the house in Willow Wood, Blanchardstown, after finding the front door barricaded.
Neighbours were first to raise the alarm before the Armed Support Unit responded.
When they arrived, they looked inside and saw the victim injured in the back of the house.
They also saw a man with the weapon and tried to engage with him but he was unresponsive while the front door was also barricaded.
They then stormed through the front window, using a stun grenade, before the suspect was tasered and he was restrained.

Her son is said to have tried to get help during the horrific incident at her home.
The Dublin Fire Brigade worked on the victim for some time but she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was removed this evening before a post mortem will take place over the coming days.
The man was arrested and taken into custody, but it’s understood he was later brought to hospital for treatment for an injury.
'SHOCKING INCIDENT'
A source said: “This is just a shocking incident.
“Gardai are working to establish what exactly happened but for the moment they are not looking for anyone else.”
The house was sealed off for a forensic examination.
The man in custody is known to the woman, police said.
A spokeswoman added: “Gardaí in Blanchardstown are currently at the scene of a fatal assault at a house in Willow Wood, Blanchardstown, Dublin.
“A woman (age unknown) received fatal injuries as a result of the incident. Her body remains at the scene.
“A man (age unknown) has been arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Blanchardstown Garda Station.”
Green Party Councillor Daniel Whooley said everyone in the area is “shocked”.
'ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE'
He told the Irish Sun: “It is absolutely horrible that an incident like this has taken place. I was shocked to hear of the incident and it is awful to think that someone has died in such a manner.
“I never expected something like that to happened around this area. From what I gather from speaking to a number of the locals around the area, we are all a bit shocked.
"The entire community has been hit by this as it is nothing something that we would have expected to be waking up and hearing about.”

The local rep condemned the “shameful” attack and said future governments need to increase funding to tackle violence against women.
He said: “I think all types of violence against women is abhorrent and shameful. I think there should be a lot more resources and funding made available to help tackle this.
“And I think is imperative that the future government - whatever the makeup is - focuses a lot more on tackling issues of this nature.”
