Woman, 28, charged with attempted murder after ‘driving car off a steep embankment with 5-year-old boy inside’

A WOMAN was arrested after police say she drove off a steep embankment with a five-year-old boy in the car.

Phuong Nu Hoang Dong Nguyen, 28, has been charged with first-degree attempted murder.

Nguyen was taken into custody the afternoon on Wednesday after driving off the south side of County Road 321 in Chafee County, , cops say.

She is a Chafee County resident, according to a from the Chafee County Sheriff's Office.

The Chaffee County Communications Center responded to a report of an accident at 1.52pm involving a vehicle that had run off the roadway and down a steep embankment.

Nguyen and the child were taken to Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, where they were both treated for minor injuries.

The newspaper reported that Spezze also declined to say why Nguyen was being charged with a that carries a sentence of up to 48 years in prison.

Nguyen was arrested after being released from the hospital and then taken to the Chaffee County Detention Facility, according to the Chafee County Sheriff's Office.
