CCTV footage shows the woman removing her trousers as awkward-looking bystanders desperately try not to stare.

She then whips off a pair of white pants and places them over her face.

According to local media, the Nova Posha post office has confirmed the incident, and said the worker who posted the CCTV footage on social media could be punished for sharing company information.

Witnesses said the woman in the video is a local resident and mother of two who was unhappy with the new mask measures.

Taking to social media, one user commented: “Well, she found a way around it.

"No one has banned the use of panties instead of a mask yet!”

Another added: “She was lucky she wasn’t wearing a thong that day otherwise the idea would have failed!”

Bosses in the country ordered a lockdown in April that meant all residents had to carry ID and wear a mask in April.

In mid-March all non-essential businesses were ordered to close and public transport reserved for key workers, but the measures have gradually began to ease in the last few months.

Face masks  - widely worn across parts of Asia before the pandemic hit - have now become a part of everyday life the world over.

Some innovative fashionistas have even been inventing new ways to wear them.

One of the hottest new virus trends is the trikini - a bikini that comes equipped with a matching face mask.

Italian designer, Tiziana Scaramuzzo, the owner of a small artisan workshop, Elexa Beachware, based in Senigallia, began producing the bikini/ mask combos for fun, but now the bizarre outfits are in high demand.

And even weirder, several companies are touting creepy-looking masks that "look like your face" so iPhone users can unlock their devices without removing face coverings.
