Months later, devastated Delon and son Bradley, eight, started thinking about getting a rescue dog.

Delon browsed the internet and spotted eight-year-old Missy on the website of Skylor’s Animal Rescue, recognising her straight away.

He said: “I couldn’t believe it.

“Almost a year had gone by since she was taken so I thought maybe we’d just have a look.

“It was nothing more than that really but after I clicked on the first result on Google I saw this picture and was amazed.

“I refreshed the page about three times, zoomed into the picture and there she was.

“I kept double-checking because I was so shocked I’d found her.”

Rescuers had found abandoned Missy tied up at a Manchester car wash.

'BEYOND DEVASTATED'

She was not chipped, which made it impossible to return her.

Delon surprised Bradley by reuniting him with Missy at home in Liverpool.

He said: “It was an experience I’ll never forget.

“They have grown up together, are the same age and are best friends.

“Missy would even sleep next to Bradley’s bed.

“He was beyond devastated when she was taken but so happy when I told him she’d be coming back.”

Missy recognised Bradley immediately and has since not left his side.

Skylor’s, based in Dobshill, North Wales, said it was thrilled to reunite them, and urged owners to get their pets chipped.

The spokesman said: “If she had been microchipped and the details kept up to date, then she could have been home much earlier.

“We always advise people to make sure their animal’s chips are up to date because you never know how your pet could be lost.

“We are just so happy that Missy is now with her family where she belongs.”
