Harry Dunn crash: Interpol issues global ‘red notice’ for arrest of Anne Sacoolas over death of Brit
A GLOBAL Interpol Red Notice has been issued for the US diplomat's wife Anne Sacoolas accused of killing a British teen with her car last year.
The parents of Harry Dunn were allegedly told Anne Sacoolas is now "wanted internationally" in an email sent by Northamptonshire Police.
A Red Notice is a request to global law enforcement organisation to locate a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.
On its website, Interpol states it "is an international wanted persons notice, but it is not an arrest warrant".
Reacting to the news Harry Dunn's mother Charlotte Charles the latest development was "important news".
"I just want to urge Mrs Sacoolas to come back to the UK and do the right thing,"; she said.
"Face justice and maybe then our two families can come together after the tragedy and build a bridge."
Harry, 19, was killed on August 27, 2019 when his motorcycle crashed into an SUV driven by Sacoolas in Northamptonshire.
The 42-year-old mother of three left a US spy base at RAF Croughton and drove on the wrong side of the road when she hit the young motorcyclist.
Sacoolas claimed diplomatic immunity and was able to return to the US and has since refused to return to the UK, sparking international outrage.
She was charged with causing death by dangerous driving last December.
Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab told US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in January that Sacoolas had to come back to the UK to face trial.
But an extradition request submitted by the Home Office was swiftly rejected by Pompeo.
Boris Johnson has warned US President Donald Trump that failing to extradite Sacoolas would be a "denial of justice".
Harry's mum told Good Morning Britain in January that Sacoolas shouldn't face justice abroad.
"This diplomatic immunity, it doesn't matter whether she had it or not - it clearly states it doesn't cover her for this," said Charlotte.
"She has evaded the crime by leaving the country."
