Boris Johnson coronavirus letters listed for sale on e-Bay for up to £1,000

THE coronavirus letters sent out by Boris Johnson to the nation are now being put up for sale for up to £1,000.

As part of the battle against Covid-19 a letter was sent out in March to every household warning about the killer virus.

Now, more than 100 of those letters have been put up for sale on eBay, with a price tag of up to £1,000.

That may be rather optimistic though as most are selling for no more than £5.

One though has sold for £89.99 and another for £51.

Some of the sellers didn’t even bother reading the warning with the listings saying the envelopes have not been opened.

At the time the letters were sent Prime Minister Boris Johnson was self-isolating, having caught the coronavirus.

The letter outlined the steps the government would take to fight the virus and what it would do to support businesses and workers.

It also outlined the lockdown measures as well as thanking the NHS staff who were helping to save lives as well as those volunteering to protect the vulnerable.

The Prime Minister wrote: “From the start, we have sought to put in the right measures at the right time.

“We will not hesitate to go further if that is what the scientific and medical advice tells us we must do.

“It’s important for me to level with you. We know things will get worse before they get better.

“But we are making the right preparations, and the more we all follow the rules, the fewer lives will be lost and the sooner life can return to normal.

“I want to thank everyone who is working flat out to beat the virus, in particular the staff in our fantastic NHS and care sector across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

“It has been truly inspirational to see our doctors, nurses and other carers rise magnificently to the needs of the hour.

“Thousands of retired doctors and nurses are returning to the NHS – and hundreds of thousands of citizens are volunteering to help the most vulnerable.

“That is why, at this moment of national emergency, I urge you, please, to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.”

The letter also contained a leaflet spelling out the symptoms to look out for as well as giving advice on hand washing, self-isolating and shielding the vulnerable.
