A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a police officer was viciously attacked in an alleyway in North London.
Just after 7pm last night officers pursed a suspect vehicle in Dartmouth Road, Hendon.
A man fled from his vehicle and was found by a cop in an alleyway in the Park Road area.
After chasing down the suspect, the officer was seriously assaulted.
The suspect fled the scene before back up arrived.
Footage showed a police helicopter and officers on foot scouring nearby fields.
He was later found and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The injuries to the officer are not thought to be life-threatening.
A crime scene is in place and enquiries continue.
It is the latest in a series of serious attacks on police.
Last month PC Darren Triggs, 36, was left paralysed after being kicked by a drunken woman.
