Wetherspoons fan misses local boozer so much in lockdown he creates pub in back garden
WETHERSPOONS fan Denis Williams is missing his local boozer so much in the lockdown that he has created his own in his back garden.
Denis, 68, has put up a pub sign in the window of his summerhouse and a few evenings a week he and partner Jenny Wearmouth get dressed up for a ‘night out’.

He enjoys a pint of bitter and retired NHS IT worker Jenny, 68, has a gin and tonic as they pretend they are in the Stanley Jefferson boozer in their home town of Bishop Auckland, Co Durham.
Retired former foundry worker Denis said: “We were saying one afternoon how much we missed going out for a drink with friends.
“We’ve got the summerhouse in the garden so we thought why not turn that into a pub?
“We put the sign up, we take down a few drinks and snacks and get washed and changed and it is a night out for us.
'IT HAS CHEERED EVERYONE UP'
“It has created a bit of a stir among the neighbours as well.
“They think it is great having something like this near them.
"A few of them have been saying over the garden fence: 'We will be over in ten minutes - make mine a Fosters!'
“It has cheered everyone up and we all need that at the moment.
“I am missing the pub because you miss having the crack with your friends.
“I'll be going straight back when it reopens – whenever that might be."

Denis could face a lengthy wait before he can enjoy a pint back in his favourite boozer.
Michael Gove has said pubs and bars would be among the last businesses to return to normal once lockdown is lifted.
And The Sun told on Monday how some industry bosses fear boozers won’t be open until after Christmas – which could kill off a huge number of Britain's 48,349 locals.

Wetherspoons gave the thumbs up to Denis’s own pub.
Spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We’re sorry that our pubs aren’t open at present and that Denis and his partner can’t get to their local Wetherspoon pub.
“However, this is a brilliant way for the couple to go to their local Wetherspoon during the pandemic. We salute Denis for doing this.”
