BUSKER Jim Ramsay has raised £1,000 for our Who Cares Wins appeal by playing online from his living room.
The 59-year-old has performed his own songs and covers every night for the last three weeks to help out hard-pressed NHS staff.
Jim, whose 82-year-old aunt died from coronavirus, has been watched 34,000 times on Facebook, with hundreds donating.
After Britain went into lockdown, Jim heard about The Sun’s appeal to raise £1million for NHS workers and decided to busk online to help.
Every night for three weeks he has been playing his own songs and covers of The Beatles, Cat Stevens, Pink Floyd and Elbow.
“Everyone started talking about the NHS and it was emotional seeing suddenly what they’re doing and what they are coping with."
“I’ll just give two or three songs a night and throw them up there and people can view them whenever they want.”
Jim is well-known in nearby Abergavenny where he busks for shoppers and gigs in bars and for the last eight years has toured Britain and Europe in an ELO tribute band. He decided to help after his work dried up overnight.
Jim, who busks in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, South Wales, said: “I want to show appreciation to the frontline workers and give them what they need while this is going on."
"I can’t imagine what the NHS are going through for us."
“I do two or three songs a night and throw them on Facebook. People can view them when they want.”
Jim, of Usk, Monmouthshire, said he and his family were hit by the seriousness of Covid-19 when it killed his aunt a month ago.
He explained: “Although she was 82, she was bouncing around keeping everyone jolly."
"She had a lot of spirit."
BRITAIN’s four million NHS staff are on the frontline in the battle against coronavirus.
But while they are helping save lives, who is there to help them?
The Sun has launched an appeal to raise £1MILLION for NHS workers.
The Who Cares Wins Appeal aims to get vital support to staff in their hour of need.
We have teamed up with NHS Charities Together in their urgent Covid-19 Appeal to ensure the money gets to exactly who needs it.
The Sun is donating £50,000 and we would like YOU to help us raise a million pounds, to help THEM.
No matter how little you can spare, please donate today here

"To see someone with that much fight give in to this, it’s very clear that this is something that’s very unforgiving.”
Jim added: “Despite the absolute catastrophe of coronavirus, in a strange kind of way, so many beautiful things seem to be happening."
“The world’s got to be a better place after this, surely?” You can watch Jim perform on his Facebook page: .
SUN readers are today urged to sign a petition calling for our NHS staff to be awarded the George Cross.
Yesterday, we backed a proposal by Lord Ashcroft to honour our health heroes with the gallantry gong given for acts of bravery that did not take place in battle.
A No10 spokesman said: “The NHS is doing a fantastic job and the nation will want to find a way to say thank you when we have defeated this virus.”
SAS hero Andy McNab added: “The award of a George Cross would show an emotional appreciation.”
We are asking readers to sign the petition online at .
