BALMY weather is set to return to Britain this weekend with temperatures expected to soar to 20C.
The Met Office said tropical air will sweep in bringing highs of 20C on Sunday but health officials have urged Brits not to flock to parks and beaches during the coronavirus lockdown.
The super scorcher will begin tomorrow, Saturday, with widespread 15C highs.
It will get even hotter on Sunday with a sizzling 20C making it the warmest day of the year so far - and as hot as Corfu.
The current record of 19.4C was set in Rhyl, North Wales, on March 24.
The mercury will remain high into next week with a maximum of 18C expected each day until at least Wednesday.
The predicted temperatures are well above the 11C average for April.
The weather has sparked concerns that people will break the coronavirus lockdown rules this weekend and that parks and roads will be busy.
England's deputy chief medical officers Professor Jonathan Van Tam said: "Whatever the weather, we all have a shared responsibility to protect those around us, and the single most important action we can all take in fighting coronavirus is to stay at home in order to protect the NHS and save lives."
The Met Office's Bonnie Diamond said: "The heat is being turned up this weekend.
"There's plenty of sunshine on it's way and for most of us it's going to feel like Summer.
"It is fair to say we could see a heatwave on the cards.
"The best of the warmer weather will come on Sunday with 20C highs.
"Temperatures will remain above the average for this time of year with 18C possible on Monday, Tuesday and even Wednesday.
Met Office forecaster Simon Partridge said: “Temperature-wise Sunday is going to be the highlight of the next few days.
“We are still under the influence of high pressure at the moment so there is still a decent amount of dry, settled weather around.
“Going into the weekend the wind shifts.
"It has been a north westerly wind which has been keeping us all cold but it will be coming from the south over the weekend.
“That means things will start to warm up. Saturday will be up to around 14 or 15C in parts and into Sunday we could well touch 20C.”
After a frosty night, particularly across the north, it will be a dry day today.
Temperatures will peak at 10C in the south and 6C to 8C in the north.
Further into the weekend London will reach highs of 20C, with similar highs expected in Manchester, Cambridge and across Norfolk.
The weekend may prove to be a brief respite from the cold weather – bookies have cut the odds on this Easter being the coldest ever.
Coral has snow falling during April as odds-on at 4-5 while it is 2-1 for the white stuff to come down during the Easter weekend.

The firm has cut the odds of it being the coldest Easter to 6-4 from 3-1.
Coral's John Hill said: “As temperatures continue to plunge, the odds have been slashed on this Easter being the coldest since records began.
"The betting also suggests there is a strong chance of snowfall this Easter, which suggests there is no chance of Easter eggs melting this year."
