A "DOOMSDAY prepper" castle in the Nevada desert with its own gold mine could be the perfect place to self-isolate during the coronavirus pandemic.
The modern-day castle, which reportedly cost more than $3million to build and was created for self-sustainability, seems to be ideal for a doomsday prepper's luxury getaway.
The property - a total of 40 acres of land in Goldfield, Nevada - is equipped with the Hard Luck Mine and is now on sale for $599,000.
Last year, the Hard Luck Mine Castle was listed for $900,000.
The gold mine, which was utilized from 1897 until around World War II, still has a functioning 160ft mine shaft.
Jake Rasmuson, of Bishop Real Estate, told UK News Agency Cover Images: “The property provides complete isolation and sustainability and built to stand the test of time.
"I anticipate, as others have, that one fallout from the coronavirus pandemic across the next decade will be a change in how individuals consider their living arrangements.
"Certainly, now that fear has crept into the public, it will take a long time for it to be eased.
He noted that buyers will likely start to evaluate properties "based on safety and ability to effectively isolate in the event of another pandemic.”
The fort is located about 187 miles from Las Vegas and was built with "superior engineering to last 400 to 500 years."
Randy Johnston purchased the land in 1998 and constructed the four-story, 8,000 square-foot building - with a total of 22 rooms in the main building.
Built with 16-inch walls, a 4,000-gallon water catchment system, and powered by wind and solar - the castle allows for self-sustainability.
Boredom wouldn't come easily to it's future homeowner as the estate comes with a wine cellar, theatre and casino game room, auto and wood shops, a large fountain, four bedrooms, three full baths, and two kitchens.
Another room has two functioning pipe organs if one wishes to listen to sounds of the 14th century or feel as if they are in a church.
Green doors with gold knocking rings are located at one of the entrances.
The castle remains under the radar as it's surrounded by rocks and desert - which can be viewed from the home's sunroom and patio, appearing to be located on top of the main building.
Jake told last year that the property was once listed for $1.2million in the latter part of 2018.
He explained: “Pricing is very difficult on a property as unique as this.
“Given how unique it is, it may be difficult to recoup the total investment on any time frame.
"The pricing has been established in a realistic range to gain interest.... You can get an 8,000-square-foot castle for the same price as one-bedroom condo in San Francisco.”
Since the location is very remote, it appears whoever chooses to live here will need a vehicle that can drive on long, rugged dirt roads.
