Coronavirus UK news: Boris Johnson admits the UK faces ‘challenge’ as Covid-19 cases rise to 39

THE Prime Minister has said cases in the UK could rise "significantly" as he warned the UK faces a "challenge" amid rising coronavirus cases.

Boris Johnson told the BBC the possibility of further transmission of the deadly virus was "clearly on the cards".

Coronavirus has now infected 39 in the UK and Covid-19 is now in every country in western Europe after Portugal became the latest to confirm cases.

This comes as Public Health England warned Britain needs to be prepared for "more widespread transmission", including cases that might be "quite challenging".
