Hillary Clinton ‘took more cash from disgraced Harvey Weinstein’ than any other Democrat during political career
HILLARY Clinton reportedly took more cash from disgraced Harvey Weinstein than any other Democrat during her political career.
According to Federal Election Commission filings, the movie mogul had contributed more than $1.4 million to Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign.
The filings reportedly show Weinstein gave Clinton another $73,390 in 1999 during her run for New York Senate run.
Overall, Weinstein donated $2.3 million to the Democratic party.
FEC data also shows the disgraced movie-mogul raised $72,100 for Barack Obama.
But he only bundled $679,000 more to Obama's 2012 reelection campaign - which is only half of what Clinton received.
Bundlers are "people with friends in high places who, after bumping against personal contribution limits, turn to those friends, associates, and, well, anyone who’s willing to give, and deliver the checks to the candidate," according to Center for Responsive Politics.
Just one day after Weinstein's guilty verdict, Clinton said: “He contributed to every Democrat’s campaign.
“He contributed to Barack Obama’s campaign, and John Kerry’s campaign and Al Gore’s campaign and everybody’s campaign," .
Hillary claimed Weinstein helped other Democrats, but omitted the fact she received more money than everyone else.
New York Senator Chuck Schumer received $14,200, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand was given $11,500, and New Jersey Senator Cory Booker received $17,800.
Weinstein also contributed $305,149 to The Democratic National Committee since 1994.
Clinton defended her closeness to Weinstein in the wake of sex allegations against him and insisted she had no idea he acted inappropriately in private.
When asked if she had any regrets about Weinstein, she in January: "How could we have known? He raised money for me, for the Obamas, for Democrats in general.
“And that at the time was something that everybody thought made sense.
"And of course, if all of us had known what we know now, it would have affected our behavior.”
In 2017, she told : "I was appalled. It was something that was just intolerable in every way.
"And, you know, like so many people who've come forward and spoken out, this was a different side of a person who I and many others had known in the past."
Clinton added that it was not possible to hand the money back to the disgraced mogul, but said she planned to give the funds to charity.
Earlier this week, , saying Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton "loved" the disgraced movie mogel.
The president went on to say "the people that liked him were the Democrats," asking whether they would return s donations to the party.
Trump added: "Michelle Obama loved him, Hillary Clinton loved him.
"He gave a lot of money to the Democrats."
But Trump said he was "never a fan of Harvey" because "said he was going to work hard to defeat me."
"He was a person I didn’t like," Trump added, explaining that he didn't know much about the case. "I was just not a fan of his."
Trump's comments came after brought against him in a Manhattan court.
He had pleaded not guilty to all five before the previously deadlocked jury came to a definitive conclusion.
