Thomas spoke about the breakdown in his relationship with his daughter in the Channel 5 documentary

The 75-year-old retired lighting director, who currently lives in Mexico, has spoken with the media extensively since his daughter married Prince Harry.

And in an explosive Channel 5 documentary, Thomas Markle: My Story, he revealed he believed the Royal Family "owe him".

The American said: "At this point, they owe me. The royals owe me.

"Harry owes me, Meghan owes me. What I’ve been through I should be rewarded for.

he didn't mean he wanted cash from his famous daughter and her husband.

Instead, he claimed he would instead keep cashing in on his own story, which will include him booking paid interviews and public appearances.

He further said he had been dragged into the situation - and now needed to do what ever he could to look out for himself.

In the documentary, that aired in January, Thomas Markle also revealed fears the next time he will see his daughter will be at his own funeral.

Thomas hasn't seen his daughter since she married Prince Harry, and has never met his grandson Archie.

MEGXIT DEAL

It comes after Meghan and Harry this week released further details of their Megxit deal, including the fact they will not use the word Royal in their new "financially independent" lives.

Under the deal, Meghan and Harry will retain their HRH titles but will not use them.

They also confirmed they would be paying back the £2.4m in taxpayer money spent on refurbishing Frogmore Cottage.

But in their latest statement, released on Friday night, the couple moaned in the statement that neither the Queen nor the government owned the word "royal" across the world after agreeing to alter their trademark.

Since quitting the Royal Family, Harry and Meghan have been living in Canada.

The couple are now expected to return to the UK to complete their last royal engagements before their March 31 deadline.
