Pop Smoke, 20, died of gunshot wound to chest after being gunned down by masked killers
US rapper Pop Smoke died from a gunshot wound to the chest, a Los Angeles coroner's report has confirmed.
The 20-year-old, real name Bahar Jackson, died in an attack on Wednesday after gunmen gained entry to a house in which he was staying in the Hollywood Hills.
Police have opened a homicide investigation.
Officials said on Wednesday that they had received a 911 call just before 5am local time from someone on the east coast reporting that a friend's property was being broken into.
The caller had spoken with someone in the house who told them there were between two and six assailants.
Security footage later showed four men wearing ski masks approaching the home and creeping into the back yard.
The killing is reported to have occurred at around 4.30am.
An eyewitness video showed the Brooklyn rapper being transported out of the home on a gurney.
Paramedics could be seen performing CPR on Jackson before the doors of an ambulance were closed.
The rapper was transported by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood, where he was later pronounced dead.
ACCIDENTALLY REVEALED ADDRESS
No arrests have yet been made, but Los Angeles Police Department officials are now investigating whether the shooting was a targeted hit.
Jackson had been renting the home from Real Housewives star Teddi Mellencamp and her husband.
Images posted to social media just hours before the attack showed him posing with his Range Rover in front of the property, but also mistakenly revealed its address.
The address was reportedly visible as Jackson held up to the camera the packaging of a gift he had been sent in the post.
Police taped off the street on which the house sits and investigators could be seen working outside.
The death has prompted public tributes from stars including fellow rappers Nicki Minaj and 50 Cent.
Minaj wrote on social media: "The Bible tells us that jealousy is as cruel as the grave. Unbelievable. Rest In Peace, Pop."
50 Cent wrote: "R.I.P to my man Pop Smoke, No sympathy for winners. God bless him."
