The Queen opens new hospital in first royal engagement since nephew revealed divorce
THE Queen today put on a brave face as she arrived to open a hospital in her first engagement since it was revealed her nephew was getting a divorce.
The 93-year-old smiled as she visited the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals today amid the tumultuous week for her family.
It was this week revealed her nephew, the Earl of Snowdon, was set to split to his wife.
A spokesman for the earl, son of the late Princess Margaret, said: "The Earl and Countess of Snowdon have amicably agreed that their marriage has come to an end and that they shall be divorced."
And the news came just days after the Queen's grandson Peter Phillips announced his divorce from wife Autumn.
Yet the Queen, dressed in a bright purple outfit, still managed to smile as she arrived for her first royal engagement since arriving home from Sandringham.
Today's visit will see her Majesty meet with patients while meeting children and families involved in the hospital's creative health play sessions.
Meanwhile, it was overnight revealed the Queen had ordered Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to drop their "Sussex Royal" label.
The couple - who spent tens of thousands of pounds on a new Sussex Royal website and trademarks - were told they will have to find a new brand after lengthy talks with the monarch.
Overnight, it was reported Her Majesty had "little choice" than to make the decision to stop Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, from using the Royal name in the future.
The pair who now face rebranding their website and their charitable organisation - Sussex Royal, The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
A royal source said overnight: "As The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are stepping back as senior Members of the Royal Family and will work towards financial independence, use of the word ‘Royal’, in this context, needed to be reviewed. Discussions are still ongoing."
The Sussexes’ Instagram page, @sussexroyal, has 11.2million followers and dozens of trademark applications were made for various products.
The Duke and Duchess had been busy putting the Sussex Royal stamp on a number of items from pencils to socks since June as they move towards becoming "financially independent".
They also launched a new website, which went live to coincide with their bombshell revelation.
The Queen has made clear she does not accept working Royals profiting from their royal position.
During Megxit talks Buckingham Palace officials had made it clear the use of the word “royal” would have to be evaluated.
It comes after Harry and Meghan axed their 15 UK staff, in their surest sign they will never return to Britain to live.
