'FORCED TO QUIT'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were ‘driven out’ of Britain, claims actor Brian Cox

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle were "driven out" of Britain, actor Brian Cox claimed today.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to Canada after dramatically quitting as royals with plans to start a new, financially independent life.

: "They (some of the media) have forced Meghan and Harry to quit the country.

"Let's not beat about the bush, they have driven them out, and yes, I have no doubt at all, some of it is racist.

"It's horrible what has happened to them."

But while praising the Queen, the Scot actor said the monarchy should end.

He said: "I think the Queen is an amazing woman, and what she has done is incredible.

"But when she’s gone, the whole bloody shooting match should go, I really think so.

"We won’t end this feudal hold on our culture and system until then."

Since Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35, released their bombshell announcement, it has been suggested Meghan faced racism after joining the royal family and moving to the UK.

But the claims have been rubbished, even from members of her own family.

'PREACHY' VIEWS SLAMMED

Meghan's dad Thomas Markle was among those to slam claims that criticism of Meghan has been racist - saying any criticism was "justified" after she and Prince Harry preached about eco-travel.

Her half-sister Samantha also hit out, saying the former actress had initially appeared to enjoy media coverage.

She told This Morning: "It was all seemingly great and wonderful then but when the public began to criticise some of the expenditures and behaviour and protocol that had been broken, the tune changed."

Meanwhile, an ex-Palace protection officer claimed the couple's bodyguards may have lost respect for them for quitting the Royal Family.

A former close protection officer for both the Duke of York and Princess Royal told The Sun Online the concerns showed Meghan and Harry's “ring of steel” was "fed up" with the pair.

Under the terms of the deal, the royal couple will have to repay the £2.4million spent on Frogmore Cottage by taxpayers and it "will remain their UK family home".
