New clothing for the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards scrapped after the regiment is misspelled DRAGON instead
NEW T-shirts for a distinguished fighting force came under fire after the regiment’s name was spelt incorrectly.
The tops for members of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards said “Dragon” by mistake.
Troops were horrified by the blunder in a batch of 150 shirts — which they branded “humiliating”.
The error appeared under the breast badge. One soldier said: “The regiment is famous for its victory at the Battle of Waterloo. To get its name wrong is unthinkable.”
Another declared: “We are proud Dragoons not Dragons.” The Ministry of Defence said the T-shirts were provided by a company which “unfortunately misspelled the regimental name”.

A spokesman added: “Replacements were produced free of charge but some soldiers decided to keep the original rather than destroy them.” Insiders claim they could become collectors’ items.
The tops were ordered after C-squadron’s deployment to Poland last year, a source said.
The Dragoons is a light cavalry regiment made up of historical regiments dating back more than 300 years.
