‘Cult mom’ Lori Vallow and husband face charges after failing to hand over missing kids to cops before deadline
"CULT mom" Lori Vallow and her husband Chad Daybell face charges after they failed to hand over their missing kids following a court order.
JJ, 7, and Tylee, 17, who haven't been seen since November, disappeared after Vallow and Daybell's ex-spouses died mysteriously before they abruptly bolted to
Local serving them with a child protective order to "physically produce" her two kids by 5 pm on Thursday.
But the pair failed to do so and now face a slew of "sealed and confidential" charges.
ABC News reports the childrens' devastated grandmother said Thursday: " I'd love to know where those kids are and I think all of America wants to know where they are.
"I think all of this is beyond crazy. ... How do you not know where your child is? How do you not have them for four months?"
Officers said they could not comment on the nature of Vallow's charges as child-protection cases are not confidential.
The "cult mom" and her husband were reportedly staying in 16 miles away from where they were found.
It was reported at the time they could be extradited or found to be in contempt of court if Vallow doesn't comply with by Thursday in line with an judge's orders - but police are yet to comment on this.
Vallow had five days to present Tylee and her autistic adopted son, JJ who have been officially missing for months.
The kids were only reported missing on Nov. 26, 2019 after police conducted a welfare check requested by JJ's grandparents.
Authorities in Kauai confirmed the children were not with the newly married couple when
Kauai Prosecuting Attorney Justin Kollar previously told he's "never seen [a case] with so many twists and turns."
Kollar wasn't sure if Vallow and Daybell, 51, were on the way back to the United States at that stage, however.
The Sun contacted his office several times on Thursday afternoon to confirm this but received no response.
Rexburg Police Department and Madison County prosecutor Rob Wood's office also remain closemouthed.
Assistant Chief of Police Gary Hagen said they have "have no further updates" when The Sun reached out.
Authorities couldn't comment on a sealed child protection case relating to the missing children.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT
The Madison County Prosecutor's Office released a brief statement about the court order and missing kids.
We are grateful for the concern and attention being shown regarding the location, health and safety of Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow. We again renew our gratitude for the help received and continue to request that anybody with information regarding the whereabouts of the children come forward.
With all the attention paid to this case this week, we would also remind the public and media that child protection cases are sealed and confidential. While the court did allow us to announce the existence of the case and the order that Lori Vallow produce her children, any and all other documents, hearings, and court filings are sealed and confidential by law.
As such we legally cannot comment on any other aspect of the case. In the event that information comes forward that would be important for the public to know, we will inquire of the court as to whether that information can be shared.
Again, thank you for your attention regarding this matter. We hope and pray that the children will be produced or found and that they are safe and healthy.

Vallow and her husband issued a statement via Idaho lawyer Sean Bartholick denying the accusations.
It read: "Chad Daybell was a loving husband and has the support of his children in this matter.
"Lori (Vallow) Daybell is a devoted mother and resents assertions to the contrary.
"We look forward to addressing the allegations once they have moved beyond speculation and rumor."
Vallow, 46, and Daybell, 51, were pulled over in a black Ford Explorer along the Kuhio Highway, according to .
They didn't have much to say to reporters who asked where Vallow's two children were last weekend.
Daybell is a member of the Latter Day Saints Church and Vallow's family members accused them of being in a "cult."
Vallow's son Colby Ryan posted a heartfelt video pleading with his mom to reveal where his siblings are.
Tylee and JJ vanished back in September after Vallow's ex Charles Vallow, 67, was killed by Vallow's brother Alex Cox.
Cox - who claimed the shooting was self-defense - then mysteriously died shortly after he was married.

Daybell's wife of 30 years Tammy was then found dead in her family home on October 19 - he married Vallow weeks later.
The 49-year-old's death was initially ruled as natural causes but her body was later exhumed for an autopsy, reported.
Her obituary said the mother-of-five died in her sleep weeks after being ambushed by a masked person holding what appeared to be a paintball gun.
reports Charles Vallow filed for divorce as a result of his wife's increasingly strange behavior.
His withdrawn divorce petition states Vallow thought she was “a god assigned to carry out the work of the 144,000 at Christ’s second coming in July 2020."
Reports indicate Vallow became increasingly infatuated with Daybell's body of doomsday books, predicting the end of the world.
