Meghan Markle ‘didn’t just jump ship – she capsized it’ in Megxit shock, royal insiders claim
MEGHAN Markle didn't just jump ship - she "capsized it" by walking away from royal life with Prince Harry, royal experts claimed today.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently in Canada to start a new life after sensationally announcing they were quitting as royals barely two weeks ago.
And while the couple stated they would "continue to fully support her Majesty the Queen" as they released their dramatic statement, they fled Britain as the Royal Family tries to deal with the Prince Andrew scandal.
The Duke of York, 59, is under increasing scrutiny over his friendship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in his cell while awaiting trial for sex trafficking offences last year.
He has stood down from public duties - but was only this week called out by the FBI for his "zero cooperation" into their investigation.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told the Sun Online those in the Royal Family should have pulled together to support the Queen - but said Harry and Meghan had done the opposite.
Speaking today, he said: "If you support an institution and what it stands for, you don't run away and don't desert when times are difficult.
"One the contrary, you gather around and support the Queen."
He added the couple "didn't rock the boat - they capsized it".
Mr Fitzwilliams said it was hoped former actress Meghan would be able to take the pressure of life as a royal after it was revealed she had won the prince's heart.
But he said the 38-year-old did the reverse of supporting the Royal Family.
He explained: "They could have waited, instead of springing this on the Royal Family when they were in a weak position. The time to jump ship isn't when there are serious problems."
PAYBACK TIME
The Queen pulled no punches when she sat down with Prince Harry after he and Meghan released the bombshell news they were quitting.
At a summit in Sandringham, her Majesty laid down the law - saying they can "no longer formally represent" her despite the couple insisting they wanted to "fly the flag" for the Queen after quitting the Firm.
In her decisive statement, the 93-year-old monarch also revealed the couple would pay back the £2.4m of taxpayer money spent on refurbishing Frogmore Cottage.
Under the new deal, Harry and Meghan will retain their HRH status — but have agreed to not use their titles while trying to forge a new life in North America.
It has since been reported Kate Middleton will be "front and centre" of the Royal Family with Prince William vowing Megxit won't ruin their plans.
A source claimed : "William knows he will have a lot more work this year and is happy to perform whatever duties the Queen asks of him. But he is determined that won’t be to the detriment of his charity work."
It comes after speculation of a feud between brothers William and Harry during the so-called Megxit drama, with it claimed they have since made peace.
