Over 3,500 ‘out-of-control’ pupils suspended 10 times or more last year

A TOTAL of 3,625 “out-of-control” pupils were suspended ten times or more last year, The Sun on Sunday can reveal.
The record number includes one kid sent home 70 times, missing 43½ school days.

A child suspended 28 times lost 65 days. A ban typically lasts for between half a day and three days.
Offences included bullying, drug-taking and violence towards teachers and students.
Others were barred for theft, racism and sexual misconduct.

And 474 of the repeat troublemakers were at primary schools.
The total is up 31 per cent on last year, and a 200 per cent increase on four years ago.
The Campaign for Real Education said: “These unteachables are the tip of the iceberg.

Those given any suspension is up from 143,000 to 189,000 in the past five years.

Permanent and fixed exclusion rates are lower than a decade ago, says the Education Department.
