Britain’s 15 best fish and chip shops revealed – does YOUR local make the cut?

BRITAIN'S best fish and chip shop has been crowned - and it includes an incredible menu of lobster, fine wines and oysters.

The Cod's Scallops in Wollaton, Nottingham, scooped the top prize at the annual National Fish & Chip Awards.

The delicious eatery is owned by husband and wife John and Helen Molnar and boasts a range of shellfish and pies, while also offering punters barista-style coffees and seaside-inspired cocktails.

Its website proudly declares: "Our fish is so fresh, tomorrow's tea is still in the sea!"

The Cod's offers a wide selection of fish and shellfish, all of which are caught from their very own boats.

They also serve sustainable crab, cockles, and lobster.

Cumbria's Shap Chippy offers locally-sourced ingredients, and staff arrive at 6am to start peeling the potatoes for chips.

The shop has firmly cemented itself as the favourite fish and chip takeaway in the North West.

A large cod costs £6.50 and can be served poached or lightly battered.

This fish and chip shop prides itself in not using plastic straws and cutlery, and have asked customers to reuse their paper bags.

The Weston Grove meal deal comes with Cod or Haddock, chip, plus a side of mushy peas and a drink for just £7.20.

Fish city has already won a slew of awards - including Regional Fish and Chip Shop of the Year in 2015.

It was set up as a family business in 2013 and only offers sustainable seafood.

A large fish and chips on the evening menu costs £16.95.

Martyn and Nicki Else were fishmongers for ten years before deciding to open a restaurant instead.

Aside from classic fish and chip shop fare, they offer lobster, mussels, and 'drunken prawns' - king prawns cooked in Jack Daniels.

This bakery with a twist successfully achieved the Best Foodservice Operator Award.

The bakery, which has more than 58 years of craft in the bakehouse, specialises in savoury mince pies, chia rolls and Florentines.

The eatery has successfully bagged four stars on popular review site TripAdvisor.

Penaluna's boasts the motto: "Bringing a taste of the ocean to the Brecon Beacons".

The fish and chip shop, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary, has a keen focus on making a difference to the community.

They offer a Fish Tea Deal which includes a large fish and chips, mushy peas, tartare sauce, white roll or brown bread and a cup of tea or coffee all for £13.75.

Lonely Planet Guide gave a recent review of the eatery that read: 'Hungry hill walkers throng the tables in this justifiably popular cafe.

The family-owned eatery is run and managed by brothers Gavin and Craig Lewis.
