Donald Trump dismisses Greta Thunberg at Davos saying he doesn’t ‘know anything about’ the ‘very angry’ activist
PRESIDENT Donald Trump dismissed Greta Thunberg in Davos today, claiming he doesn’t know much about the teen climate change activist.
“I don’t really know anything about her,” Trump told at the World Economic Forum in .
Greta, who has been diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, has become the face of a new generation of environmental activists.
She’s made headlines and drawn large crowds for her powerful speeches urging world leaders to do more about climate change.
At the United Nations Climate Summit in September, Greta was spotted furiously staring at Trump as he arrived at the event.
The president then mocked Greta on Twitter, writing: “She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!”
In response, Greta changed her Twitter profile to read: “A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.”
In December, Time magazine honored Greta with their famed “Person of the Year” award — the youngest recipient ever — for her activism.
The next day, Trump tweeted: “Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend!”
“Chill Greta, Chill!” he said.
In Davos earlier today, Trump was asked if he had a message for Greta.
He replied: "I’m a very big believer in the environment."
"We right now are doing extremely well in the United States."
"But what I want is the cleanest water, the cleanest air and that’s what we’re going to have," he added.
The president — whose impeachment trial begins today in Washington — insisted America's future is secured under his leadership.
During a speech, Trump seemingly took a swipe at environmental activists, calling them “alarmists.”
He said the world and their predictions of the apocalypse.”
He said the U.S. would commit to the One Trillion Trees Initiative to plant them worldwide.
Greta said, however, that “planting trees is good but it’s nowhere near enough.”
