The 25-year-old said the resident had accidentally left a door open in her house, and as a result the serpent managed to slither inside – but was soon discovered by the woman’s pet pooch.

Bryce said the dog started growling and that this alerted the owner to the snake in her house.

After getting the call, Bryce found the venomous reptile climbing a window in the woman’s bathroom.

It had also created a path of destruction throughout the home as it pushed things out of its way.

According to Australian Geographic, brown snakes are responsible for more deaths every year in Australia than any other group of snakes and add that their venom is ranked as second most toxic of any land snake in the world.

How deadly are Australia's brown snakes?

Although the brown snake's fangs are tiny, about 3mm, they pack a lethal punch through ultra-powerful venom.

The venom contains powerful presynaptic neurotoxins, destructive to nerve tissue.

It also has procoagulants, which promotes blood clotting, cardiotoxins and nephrotoxins – which destroys kidney tissue.

“Successful envenomation can result in progressive paralysis and uncontrollable bleeding.

“Occasional fatalities have occurred as a result of bleeding into the brain due to coagulation disturbances,” Australia Museum explains.

Bryce said: "The lady was sitting in her computer room with her two dogs, when one her dogs started growling.

"Once the lady turned around and saw the snake, she freaked out because she knew straight away it was a brown snake.

"Luckily for her the back door was also in the computer room so she got herself and the dogs outside, leaving the snake inside.

"Once I arrived, I noticed quite a lot of things in her house knocked over.

"So, I followed the destruction to the bathroom where I found it trying to get out the bathroom window.

"Although their climbing ability is not the best, Eastern brown snakes can definitely climb in certain situations."
