The suspect was arrested in Drogheda, Co Louth, on Sunday night.

Officers swooped after being issued a warrant to detain the young man.

The warrant for the murder suspect’s arrest is not linked to Keane’s shocking slaying but in relation to a separate matter.

DRUGS WAR

Detectives think Keane was savagely murdered as part of a drugs war between rival gangs.

Keane’s severed head, feet and hands were found in a blazing Volvo hatchback in Drumcondra, Dublin, last Wednesday.

Officers have concluded a technical examination of the house in Drogheda where they believe the 17-year-old may have been murdered, and must now await forensic results before proceeding.

His arms and legs had been dumped in the middle of an estate in Coolock, north Dublin, late last Monday night, along with flip flops – which had been taken from the chief suspect by associates of Mulready-Woods during a row.

It’s understood the man police believe was behind Keane’s murder had put the footwear in with the body parts and was on his way to the home of the individual who stole his bag to leave it all there and send a message.

Cops continue to search for the torso of the tortured teenager – after multiple attempts to locate and return it to his family failed.

Officers are mounting armed patrols in Drogheda in a bid to prevent any revenge attacks.
