Monster dad sets daughter, 16, on fire leaving her with horror burns as she tried to protect mum from his drunken attack
A TEENAGE girl suffered severe burns after being set on fire by her own dad in a horrific drunken attack.
Anna, 16, received deep burns to her face and hands after she was attacked by her dad in the city of Chernivtsi, western Ukraine.
Police say the 38-year-old dad, who has not been named, came home drunk and started insulting his wife, Natalia Krytska.
The abusive dad was about to punch his 43-year-old wife when their daughter stepped in and grabbed his arm.
Speaking to local media Natalia said: "He was going to beat me up but Anna grabbed his arm and shouted, 'You are not going to hurt her anymore!'
"He pushed her aside and ran out of the house.
"We thought he went for a walk to let off steam but several seconds later he returned."
Natalia said he returned to the house with a bottle of petrol and doused the room with the flammable liquid before throwing it in Anna's face and on the burning hot stove.
"The petrol exploded when it touched the stove and the fire immediately spread to Anna and the room," said the teenager's mum.
"Her face was engulfed with flame. She tried to beat it out with her own hands."
I shouted to him, 'help me' and he said 'may this b*tch burn, I don't care'.
Fortunately Anna's older brother was home and hearing his sister's screams he stormed into the burning room and dragged her outside.
He said: "I started covering her with snow to put the fire out.
"Our father was standing beside and watching.
"I shouted to him, 'help me' and he said 'may this b*tch burn, I don't care'."
Seeing the burning house neighbours rushed to the scene and called emergency services.
But a paramedics crew failed to come to the family's aid because a dirt road leading up to the house was washed out and an injured Anna had to walk two miles to reach the ambulance.
She was taken to the intensive care unit and diagnosed with burns to her face, neck, airways and hands.
Igor Semenyuk, the head of the Chernivtsi Emergency Hospital, said: "Parts of the damaged skin should be removed from the girl's face and hands as burns are too deep and epidermis will not recover."
Doctors added that Anna will need plastic surgeries to restore her face.
The heartbroken mum said: "I blame myself for what happened.
"I wish I could trade places with my daughter."
The family's house is no longer fit to be lived in after the fire and all of their belongings have been turned to ash.
Anna is expected to spend the next month in hospital.
According to local media is receiving counselling to cope with the horrific ordeal.
Police have launched a criminal case for attempted murder against the 38-year-old dad who has been arrested and taken into custody.
Police spokesman Demnyan Golyanskiy said: "The suspect intended to kill all his family in the blaze.
"He has been charged with attempted murder and placed into custody for a two-month pre-trial period.
"He faces a life sentence if found guilty."
