Prince Charles warns Harry and Meghan not to cash in on titles after royal exit
PRINCE Charles has urged Prince Harry and not to profit from their Royal titles after stepping back from their duties.
Harry and Meghan got their way at the Royal Family exit crisis summit —as the Queen released an emotional statement admitting she had hoped the couple would stay.
But Prince Charles warned the couple they will be given strict rules preventing them from cashing in on their royal titles, .
A source told the paper the Prince of Wales had made it clear he will not fund their new lives in Canada and they must not cheapen the Royal Family through commercial deals.
The source said: "There will be strict instructions on branding, for example.
"No one wants to see the Sussexes' name on a tub of margarine."
A friend added: "He doesn't have unlimited resources. Harry needs to know that."
After the Sandringham talks, Her Majesty released a statement saying the couple will be allowed to step down from their duties and spend time in Canada.
In a historic statement she said: "Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives."
It appears to give the couple licence to pursue private commercial deals, with experts predicting their brand could be worth £400million.
But royal aides are working out a viable funding blueprint to stop Harry and Meghan bringing their titles into disrepute.
THE NEXT STEPS: What today's summit means for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's future
The Queen tonight made it clear she wanted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to remain 'full-time members' of the Royal Family.
However, the couple stuck to their guns during the crunch talks at Sandringham - insisting they wanted to live a more "independent life".
This means they will spend time in Canada and the UK as they raise their son Archie.
During the summit at the Norfolk estate, they also insisted they would become financially independent - no longer relying on the public purse.
And while Her Majesty's statement hinted at her sadness that Meghan and Harry would be moving on, the Royal Family can now work on the finer details over just what the couple's new life will look like.
Royal aides are now expected to thrash out the finer details of just how the couple will create a "new life as a young family" together.
These discussions are likely to include whether the couple continue to use their HRH titles, and how they will keep their royal duties separate from their private work.
Other details to be discussed are expected to be how their security will be handled, and what, if anything, will happen to their patronages.
The 93-year-old monarch made it clear she wanted to see the "complex matters" to be reached as soon as possible.
A further announcement as to the couple's future is expected to be revealed "in the coming days".
Prince Harry, 35, has an estimated personal fortune of around £30 million.
Prince William and Harry were left around £70m in trust by the Queen Mother and around £15m by Princess Diana.
Meghan is said to be worth £2-3 million and was paid a reported £333,000 per season for six runs of the legal drama Suits.
Until now the Sussexes have been "prohibited from earning any income in any form" - but could now pull in huge sums on the international celebrity circuit.
Prince Harry could join the world's top speakers in demanding up to £400,000 for a single address at private events.
He has become an accomplished public speaker in recent years through his roles in leading the Invictus Games and other charity commitments.
The Sussexes recently trademarked 100 items including clothing, calendars and postcards - hinting they may be set to start selling their own merchandise.
