PRINCE ALARMING

Prince Charles ‘hurt’ after secretly giving Harry and Meghan millions of his OWN cash to fund wedding and lifestyle

PRINCE Charles has secretly been giving Harry and Meghan millions of pounds of his own cash to fund their lavish lifestyle, according to reports.

The Prince of Wales handed the money to his youngest son on top of the £2.3million he and Meghan already receive per year from the Duchy of Cornwall.

And Charles is said to have given the couple more than Prince William and his family received – although that figure is now around the same, the reports.

Insiders claim he paid out “hundreds of thousands of pounds” to help furnish Frogmore House along with the £2.4million of taxpayer cash spent on renovations and paid a “small fortune” for their wedding.

A source said: “There is a great deal of hurt given that the Prince of Wales has gone out of his way to help his son who he loves dearly and embrace his daughter-in-law into the family.

“The figures quoted on the Sussex website are wrong. It does not take into account security for one thing and much of the travel.

“Also talk of what the Prince of Wales only pays towards both his sons from the profits of the Duchy is simply not true. He has paid out considerable sums from his private investments and money too.

“These are not small sums. It should not be a surprise that he is upset by all this given the truth about how he has supported his son.”

TAXPAYER STILL FORKING OUT

Meghan and Harry announced last week they will work towards being “financially independent” – but are still retaining certain royal privileges.

They will lose £2million-a-year from the taxpayer-funded Sovereign Grant – but will have 95 per cent of their brand-Sussex costs paid for by Harry’s dad through the Duchy of Cornwall.

Meghan and Harry will continue to live at Frogmore Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle, which saw a £2.4million taxpayer-funded refurbishment carried out last year.

The Grade II listed, four-bedroom home is owned by the Queen – with the pair having to seek permission to use the house while they split their time between the UK and North America.

CRISIS TALKS

Despite stepping down from the royal family, the couple will still be awarded security at the hands of the taxpayer.

As they are deemed “internationally protected people” by the Home Office, they require constant armed security from the Metropolitan Police.

Meghan and Harry announced this arrangement would continue – with an estimated £600,000 bill for their six police bodyguards charged to the British taxpayer.

The Queen, Harry, Charles and Prince William are currently locked in crisis talks at Sandringham over the royal divorce.

Her Majesty also aims to sort the Sussexes’ roles, and Meghan, 38, could join in via conference call.

The former actress is currently in Canada with baby Archie after flying back on a budget flight as news of the split broke.

The Palace said they would not be commenting.
