Prince Harry ‘heartbroken’ over royal split but Meghan Markle warns it’s ‘not working’ for her ahead of crisis summit
TORMENTED Prince Harry has been left "heartbroken" after cutting ties with the royals - but Meghan Markle has warned: "It's not working for me".
While the Duchess of Sussex has fled the UK for Canada, the Duke has been left to pick up the pieces and will be locked in crunch talks with the Queen at Sandringham today.
He is reportedly torn over the idea of severing ties with the royals completely.
And a source told the decision to leave the royal family had been driven by Meghan.
MEGHAN 'WANTS TO LEAVE'
They said: "She wants to leave ... She thinks: 'It's not working for me'.
"Harry is under intense pressure to choose. It is sad. He loves the Queen. He loves this country.
"He loves all his military stuff and I think it will genuinely break his heart to leave.
"I don't think that's what he really wants. I think they want some halfway house."
Harry and his brother Prince William today issued a joint statement after the source claimed their strained relationship forced the royal split.
According to repeated reports, Harry felt that William was insufficiently welcoming towards Meghan when they first started dating.
Their relationship has apparently not recovered since, but royal insiders have been quick to deny the claims.
The statement, issued today, referred to a "false story" and said the brothers were "deeply, deeply upset" over the "offensive" allegation.
CRUNCH TALKS
Her Majesty also aims to sort the Sussexes’ roles, and Meghan, 38, could join in via conference call.
Despite the rift between the brothers, the Queen and Prince Charles’s priority is keeping them united for the sake of the monarchy, insiders have revealed.
William has expressed hope that he and his brother might become closer again but it’s clear Harry is determined to seek a different life.
The meeting comes after it emerged The Sussexes may threaten a tell-all US TV interview to get their way at the royal summit.
INTERVIEW FEARS
Her American PR team is already in touch with major US networks and chat show queen Oprah Winfrey.
The couple could use the TV threat to try to secure a better deal at the Sandringham talks.
A royal source said: “Harry and Meghan’s people have been reaching out to all the big US networks to explore the possibilities of a sit-down warts-and-all interview.
“Perhaps Harry and Meghan will use this as a negotiating tactic as there is no way the royals want their dirty laundry out in the open.

The source said the couple want to “tell their side of the story” — adding: “Meghan feels she’s been silenced and is no longer prepared to be muted.
"She and Harry feel the royals have been racist and sexist. Her people are actively exploring opportunities.”
