Rebecca Long-Bailey hits out at Labour leadership rival Kier Starmer by calling him ‘part of the establishment’
A LABOUR leadership rival launched a thinly-veiled attack on Sir Keir Starmer — saying he is part of the establishment.
Rebecca Long-Bailey hit out at the bookies’ favourite by outlining her working class credentials — and that she represents a pro-Brexit constituency.
The outburst attempted to overshadow Sir Keir — an MP in a Remain London seat — as he formally launched his bid for the party crown in Manchester. Ms Long-Bailey said:
“It’s important to note I do come from a Leave constituency.
“I’m not from London and I’ve grown up seeing and being quite angry about the shift of power and wealth to the centre of London and Westminster.
"It’s important to have a politician that doesn’t represent the political establishment now.”

Sir Keir attacked Boris Johnson as “a man of no principles, no moral compass, who will go anywhere to stay in power”.
Sir Keir is 4/11 with Betfair Exchange to win, with Ms Long-Bailey at 5/1.
Meanwhile, Tory MP Andrew Bridgen said Len McCluskey holds a “win-win” hand — as his Unite union has given cash support to leading candidates.
