CBS host Gayle King denies Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘agreed to tell-all interview in US’
GAYLE King denied scheduling a tell-all interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the US after they announced plans to abandon their royal duties.
The chief anchor for CBS dismissed claims she would grill the Duke and Duchess of Sussex following their shocking "step back" from the British Royal family.
On Saturday, a CBS spokesperson told The Sun: "Gayle says she has had absolutely no conversations with Meghan & Harry (or their representatives) about doing an interview with them."
The news comes as the power couple pursue lucrative opportunities in North America.
Gayle was was invited to Meghan’s baby shower in New York last February and has reportedly .
The broadcast queen hosted the television special Meghan Markle: An American Princess on CBS a month before their lavish wedding, which she covered for the network.
Gayle previously described Meghan as "very kind" after she attended her lavish baby shower last year.
The anchor added: "She's very generous, and a really, really sweet person."
Back in the UK, Prince Charles reportedly realized Harry is at the "tipping point" of leaving the family forever and crises talks have ensued.
The couple rushed out a bombshell statement which left the Queen deeply upset after The Sun exclusively revealed their plans to ditch their royal duties.
Another American powerhouse who has weighed into the royal controversy is Gayle's pal.
Oprah denied 's report she actively encouraged the Sussexes to build their brand abroad as their shocking plans to leave the country emerged.
However Oprah - who is friendly with Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland - told the couple "do not need my help in figuring out what’s best for them."
Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35, have reportedly already trademarked “Sussex Royal” as a brand on more than 100 properties in the UK with an estimated $500 million revenue, says Page Six.
Harry now faces an awkward appearance at Buckingham Palace next Thursday to host the draw for next year’s Rugby League World Cup.
