Convicted murderer says he ‘didn’t hesitate’ to tackle London Bridge terrorist during murderous rampage
A CONVICTED murderer has told how he tackled the London Bridge terrorist.
Steve Gallant, 42, was on day release at a prisoner rehabilitation event when Usman Khan launched his deadly attack at Fishmongers' Hall.
He brandished a narwhal tusk handed to him by fellow hero Darryn Frost and chased Khan on to the bridge, where the terrorist was shot dead by cops.
In a statement Gallant said: “I could tell something was wrong and had to help.
“Khan was stood with two large knives in his hands. He was a clear danger to all, so I didn’t hesitate.”
Jack Merritt and Saskia Jones were killed in the attack.
Gallant got 17 years in 2005 for beating to death Barrie Jackson in Hull in 2005 outside a Hull pub.
He continued: “Special thanks to Darryn. Had he not passed me the tusk the situation could have been
worse.”
'ROLE MODEL'
Footage shows Steve Gallant with two other men running onto London Bridge after Usman Khan and tackling him to the ground.
