Iran warns US it will ‘face another Vietnam’ if Trump doesn’t pull troops from Middle East after Soleimani’s execution
IRAN has warned America it will "face another Vietnam" war if it doesn't pull troops out of the Middle East.
The chilling warning came after an Iranian chief warned that even the murder of President Donald Trump would not be sufficient revenge for the assassination of General Qasem Soleimani.
A senior adviser to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that American forces are risking a bloody and unsuccessful stay in the Middle East.
Ali Akbar Velayati blasted: "Americans took a foolish move by assassinating him and they must leave the region.
"If they do not leave the region, they will face another Vietnam."
Tonight the Pentagon was forced to deny it was pulling US troops out of Iraq after the country's parliament voted to expel foreign troops.
The US defence secretary said a "poorly worded" draft letter on the withdrawal was sent by mistake.
EMBASSIES EVACUATION
Britain has tonight started pulling staff out of its embassies in Iran and Iraq amid the tense security situation, according to Sky News.
The withdrawal of the diplomats from both countries is a precautionary while the respective ambassadors - Rob Macaire in Tehran and Stephen Hickey in Baghdad - will remain in place.
Staff will be reduced to "minimal" levels, Sky reports.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: "The safety and security of our staff is of paramount importance and we keep our security posture under regular review.
"Both our Embassies in Baghdad and Tehran remain open."
Earlier, hundreds of thousands of Iranians took to the streets of Tehran to mourn Soleimani with incredible aerial snaps showing the crowds stretch for miles.
Gen Esmail Ghaani - who takes over Iran's Revolutionary Guards Quds Force from Soleimani - also attended and was pictured weeping at his predecessor's funeral
Revolutionary Guards Aerospace Force chief Amir Ali Hajizadeh added: "Even killing Trump is not a sufficient vengeance.
"And the only thing that can pay for the blood of martyr Soleimani is completely expelling America from the region."
Another senior Iranian, Hasameddin Ashena, tweeted a link to a Forbes article listing large Trump estates throughout the US, indicating that his multi-billion dollar estate is in the crosshairs.
Trump has threatened to hit 52 Iranian sites “some at a very high level and important to Iran and the Iranian culture".
The President, however, said he was undeterred as Tehran responded by listing 35 targets of their own.
Mr Ashena added: "We have ZERO problems with the American people. We even achieved deals with previous US administrations.
"Our sole problem is Trump. In the event of war, it is he who will bear full responsibility."
The move from the advisor comes amid escalating rhetoric from both sides and a twitter war between Trump and Iran.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has also been pulled into the fray saying that Britain "will not lament the death" of Qasem Soleimani.
Slain General Souleimani was laid to rest today by a weeping Ayatollah Khamenei and 'millions' of mourners.
Last night Iranian MP Abolfazl Abutorabi labelled the US’s deadly strike on General Soleimani “a declaration of war”.
He said: “'We can attack the White House itself, we can respond to them on the American soil. We have the power, and God willing we will respond in an appropriate time."
The General's daughter vowed that US soldiers' families will be "waiting for their death".
Iran put an $80 million bounty on Trumps head and threatened to attack the White House, while Trump returned fire by threatening 'disproportionate' force and sparking fears of World War 3.
