Are trains and Tubes running on New Year’s Day?
FESTIVE periods have been brought to a standstill in some areas with strikes causing mayhem up and down the country.
With so much doubt about our infrastructure and services, here are some handy tips to ensure you stay ahead of the crowd when travelling.
Are trains running on New Year's Day?
While there is no intended strike action for January 1, 2023, most operators are running a reduced services.
With New Year's Day falling on a Sunday this year, there will be quite a difference to the normal schedule.

Strike action is planned for January 3, 4, 6 and 7, 2023, which will see nationwide disruption with little or no rail services running.
Are Tubes running on New Year's Day?
The Tube runs a special service after the New Year is rung in.
Services will run all night except on the Waterloo & City line (no service) and the District line to Kensington Olympia.
From 11.30pm on New Year's Eve until 2am on New Year's Day some stations near to the London New Year's Eve fireworks event or in other busy areas may become exit or interchange only at short notice.
There will be a number of services affected for travel on the London Underground on January 1, 2023.

As less people tend to travel on Bank Holidays and in particular, Sundays, there is a lot of planned engineering works taking place on January 1, 2023.
