PETRIFIED Christmas shoppers ran for their lives after an Audi mounted the pavement while being chased by yobs wielding three-foot-long baseball bats.
Disturbing CCTV shows the dark Audi Q7 crashing into clothes rails outside a store in Birmingham last Sunday.
The people carrier mounted the busy pavement, as women and children shopped nearby on Alum Rock Road, reports .
A young girl, seen in a white coat, was lucky to survive after narrowly missing being hit by the vehicle, thanks to her quick-reacting mum who plucked her to safety.
Surveillance footage shows at least two men, whose heads are hidden by hoods, carrying baseball bats menacingly towards the crashed car.
As they approach it, a man jumps out from the passenger side and dashes away.
After the bat-wielding yobs then vanished from the scene, stunned shoppers gathered around the damaged rails.
It's believed that police were called after the December 22 incident.
An Alum Rock Community Forum spokesman slammed the yobs' threatening actions as "reckless".
He added: "It's shocking. This happened in the heart of the Alum Rock Road, with people doing their Christmas shopping, and taking advantage of the sales.
"They put women and children's lives at risk.
"From the video, we can see people parading around with three-foot-long bats again - with no regard for the law."
