Rochelle Humes says kids’ books are magic for parents too as she backs our Books For Schools campaign
READING is brilliant for all children says singer and TV presenter Rochelle Humes.
The mum-of-two is married to former JLS singer Marvin Humes and the couple, who live near London have two daughters — Alai-Mai, six, and two-year-old Valentina.
Rochelle is the latest high profile children’s author to back The Sun’s Books For Schools campaign.
She says: “As a child a bedtime story was my daily a treat and something I looked forward to every night.
“Like lots of youngsters, I’d always push it and try to get another one — and if I’d been naughty that day, I’d lose my story and would be so upset.”
We have teamed up with HarperCollins to give away £12million worth of books to primary schools in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
'Reading is so brilliant for children'
All the 6,000-plus registered schools which collect 3,500 tokens will each get a set of books from the Collins Big Cat reading programme.
Rochelle says: “Reading is so brilliant for children. It helps them excel at school, across the board.
“Anything that can encourage children off their screens is a good thing. The Sun’s campaign is magic to me.
“As a mum, I’ve loved rediscovering books with the girls as well as reading new books. My daughters much prefer Marvin to read their bedtime stories though.
