Homeless woman, 30, gives birth to premature twins in street outside Cambridge University’s richest college
A HOMELESS woman gave birth to premature twins in a freezing cold street outside Cambridge University's richest college.
The woman, believed to be aged about 30, went into labour next to Trinity College early on Monday morning.
Passersby called an ambulance and the destitute mum and newborns were rushed to hospital.
A witness told the woman was thought to have been about 29 weeks pregnant, meaning the babies were 11 weeks premature.
They said: "They were all in the ambulances by the time I cycled past.
"My workmate was first on the scene and luckily Sainsbury's was open early that morning and she ran in there for help."
A 2018 report by the concluded income was distributed more unevenly in Cambridge than in any of the 57 other cities it studied — including London and Oxford.
Trinity College itself holds more than £1 billion in assets.
