Jayme Closs kidnapper slept in same bed as 13-year-old for three months but ‘felt too guilty to rape her’
JAYME Closs escaped being raped by her kidnapper because he felt too guilty to abuse her, court documents reveal.
Sick Jake Patterson played board games with the 13-year-old and forced her to sleep in his bed after snatching her from her home in Colorado, US.
The fiend shot James Closs, 50, through his letterbox and then murdered wife Denise, 46, in her bathtub in October 2018.
He admitted to cops that he had sexual thoughts about Closs but didn't act on them due to his guilt over the murder.
The teenager managed to escape the cabin after her abductor, Jake Thomas Patterson, left her to visit his mum.
Patterson sobbed as he was caged for life in May 2019.
He wept: "I would die to bring them back. I don’t care about me."
Patterson had told authorities that he randomly decided to abduct Closs after watching her board a school bus.
He made two aborted trips to her family's home before finally carrying out an attack in which he shot dead Jayme's parents - including her mother as she sat tied next to her, according to a criminal complaint.
He told investigators he plotted carefully, including donning all-black clothing, putting stolen licence plates on his car and taking care to leave no fingerprints on his shotgun.

He wrapped tape around Jayme's mouth and head, taped her hands behind her back and taped her ankles together
He then dragged Jayme outside, threw her in the boot of his car and took her to his cabin.
Judge James Babler told Patterson he was “one of the most dangerous men to walk this planet” and described him as “the embodiment of evil”.
Jayme, who didn’t appear in court, revealed how she managed to outsmart her abductor in her statement.
“There are some things that Jake Patterson can never take from me,” she said.
“He can’t take my freedom. He thought he could own me and he was wrong. I was smarter. I watched his routine and I took back my freedom. I will always have my freedom and he will not.”

Jayme wrote that Patterson “tried to steal me” and that “he didn’t care who he hurt or who he locked up to do that”.
Five of the teen's family members, including uncles and aunts, delivered emotional victim impact statements and called for Patterson to be given the maximum sentence.
Mike Closs, Jayme’s uncle, said: "Because of this monster, Jayme won’t have her mom and dad at her dance recitals. She won’t have my brother to walk her down the aisle on her wedding day."
