Friends of the rap icon - who had a seizure and died on Sunday - say officers targeted him because he was a young black man with a flashy lifestyle.
It was claimed earlier this week Juice swallowed a number of pills to hide them from FBI agents who were lying in wait after a private jet flight from LA to Chicago.
That was reportedly the third time he was searched at an airport since signing a $3million record deal aged 19.
Friends say that was no coincidence and Juice would still be alive if police had not been pursuing him.
Sources closes to the rapper told TMZ they suspect he was the victim of racial profiling because he was "a black man who dares to fly on private jets".
The : "We're told people close to him think the sudden fame, success and money made him a target with law enforcement - especially considering he was a kid flying private with other kids."
'HOUNDED'
TMZ said Juice - who shot to fame with viral hit Lucid Dreams - was arrested by cops at New York's LaGuardia airport last year.
Officers were called after "prohibited items" including a small amount of cannabis and bottles of codeine cough syrup were allegedly found in his checked bag.
He was charged with misdemeanour possession but later accepted a plea to a lesser non-criminal offence.
Last month at Los Angeles international airport.
Now a global star aged 20, he was flying by private jet with his entourage and girlfriend Ally Lotti for concert dates in Australia.
Cops with sniffer dogs searched them before takeoff. It is not clear if anything was found but they were allowed to continue their journey.
Then at 1.30am on Sunday, Homeland Security officers, FBI and local police were waiting for Juice to land at Chicago's Midway airport.
He flew in with Ally and eight pals for a party to celebrate his 21st birthday six days earlier.
TMZ said officers may have been acting on intelligence gather in the Los Angeles search.
But it was also reported the pilot radioed ahead to report the rapper's bodyguards were armed with guns.
Cops found a huge stash of 70lbs of cannabis in suitcases on board.
They also found six bottles of prescription cough syrup as well as handguns, metal-piercing bullets and high-capacity magazines.
Two men were arrested for firearms offences but no one admitted to possessing the drugs, Chicago police said.
While the jet was being taken to a hangar, Juice is said to have swallowed a number of pills before having convulsions around 2am.
Ally reportedly told officers he had taken Percocet painkillers.
They gave the unconscious star two shots of Narcan opioid antidote which roused him, but he died an hour later in hospital.
Juice Wrld - real name Jarad Higgins - had spoken openly about his drug abuse.
He was hooked on a dangerous cocktail called Lean - made with codeine cough syrup, sweets and fizzy pop - which he downed with Percocet and Xanax pills.
